Head of Infrastructure (AI)

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid work model

Salary: $185,000–$230,000 gross annually in Austin. Compensation for other locations is discussed during the interview process.

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Support, Observability, and Platform teams.
• Transform operations-focused infrastructure into a self-service, automation-first platform service.
• Own a complex multi-tenant Kubernetes architecture running local LLM inference on GPU and TPU workloads across GCP and AWS.
• Build security into the platform through tenant isolation, workload identity, secrets management, and policy enforcement.
• Improve observability and reliability through SLOs, incident response, and proactive capacity management.
• Partner with engineering, data, security, and customer-facing stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps and platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of infrastructure, platform, or SRE experience, including 3+ years leading technical teams.
• Experience transforming infrastructure teams into platform-as-a-product organizations.
• Expert production Kubernetes experience with multi-tenancy, GPU/TPU scheduling, autoscaling, and strong isolation boundaries.
• Strong knowledge of RBAC, network policies, workload identity, secrets management, and policy-as-code.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, SQL, vector databases, and AI workloads.
• Experience with Terraform, ArgoCD, CI/CD, observability tools, container security, Linux, networking, Python, and Bash.

Nice to have

• Experience running LLM or ML inference infrastructure at scale.
• Familiarity with AWS equivalents of the listed GCP services.
• Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, ENS, or GxP frameworks.
