Director of AI Engineering, Internal Products

Location: New York, United States

Base salary: $250,000–$290,000 per year, plus variable pay and equity.

What you will do

• Lead an engineering team building internal products for Finance, HR, Operations, and field teams.
• Turn firsthand business needs into products that improve coordination, operational insight, exception resolution, resource management, and real-time decision-making.
• Use AI coding agents, AI-assisted development, automated testing, and new engineering workflows to accelerate software delivery.
• Lead development of an AI-powered internal platform with integrations, permissions, infrastructure, testing, deployment, and governance.
• Define architecture, engineering standards, operating models, and team culture while recruiting and developing engineers.
• Partner with company leadership to identify high-impact software and AI opportunities and evaluate build-versus-buy decisions.

Requirements

• Strong engineering leadership experience with a record of building and shipping production software.
• Experience leading engineers, making architectural decisions, and delivering dependable systems.
• Hands-on interest in modern AI coding tools and agents and enthusiasm for AI-native engineering practices.
• Understanding of security, permissions, integrations, observability, testing, and maintainability.
• Product-thinking skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to work across strategy, architecture, implementation, and business needs.
• Ability to enable other people to solve problems independently and scale engineering impact.
