Head of Applied AI

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site

Salary: $285,000–$300,000 base annually plus equity

What you will do

• Set the strategy and operating model for Applied AI.
• Lead the development of production AI agents and intelligence systems for prior authorization, payor communication, clinical review, and care gap analysis.
• Own hirify.global Agent, the evaluation framework, and shared foundations for new AI use cases.
• Establish evaluation practices and make build-versus-buy decisions across models, prompting, agent infrastructure, and post-training.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and business leaders to define priorities, metrics, and ownership.
• Build and develop a high-performing team while owning the reliability of live AI systems, including monitoring, failure handling, and service-level objectives.

Requirements

• Experience building and shipping production-grade LLM agents.
• Experience owning live production systems, including on-call responsibilities, reliability, and service-level objectives.
• Experience training or fine-tuning models, shipping them, and measuring impact against product or business outcomes.
• Strong judgment across post-training, prompt engineering, agent harness improvements, and off-the-shelf capabilities.
• Experience leading product-focused teams as a manager or staff-level engineer with significant leadership responsibility.
• Ability to move between strategy and technical detail, guide architecture, partner with stakeholders, and make clear performance and organizational decisions.

• Healthcare experience or experience building systems that use sensitive data.
