Senior Trading Systems DevOps Engineer (Crypto)

Location: New York City, NY, United States

Base salary: $179,000–$226,000 per year, plus performance-linked bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build, scale, and optimize low-latency trading platforms and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Design release pipelines for OMS, EMS, and gateway systems with zero-downtime deployments and deterministic rollbacks.
• Provision high-throughput Aeron and FIX messaging paths for market-making venues and regional expansion.
• Automate infrastructure, network topology, and operating-system configuration using Terraform and Ansible.
• Build real-time telemetry with Grafana Cloud, Alloy, and Prometheus, while improving reliability, security, and deployment efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations, lead production incident escalation, reduce MTTR, and conduct blameless postmortems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience as an Infrastructure or Systems Engineer in low-latency electronic trading.
• Deep Linux kernel knowledge, including performance tuning, memory management, CPU pinning, ring buffers, and network I/O optimization.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Placement Groups, ENA/ENI, high-performance EC2, and trading systems across cloud, on-premises, and colocation environments.
• Experience with CI/CD for stateful systems using Jenkins, ArgoCD, or GitHub Actions, plus FIX execution flows and Aeron IPC/UDP messaging.
• Strong knowledge of physical network design, TCP/IP, UDP, WebSockets, low-latency routing, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes.
• Fluent Python and Bash scripting, with expertise in observability, debugging, system tuning, and container image security.

Nice to have

• Rust or Java development experience for cross-functional debugging of execution engines.
• Experience with SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, canary releases, and blue/green deployments for stateful systems.
• Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, algorithmic trading, market-making, or crypto exchange APIs.
