Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Location: 5 days onsite in a SCIF in Reston, Virginia, United States

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 for Cloud Engineer I, $190,000–$210,000 for Cloud Engineer II, or $200,000–$235,000 for Cloud Engineer III.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, operate, and maintain secure AWS infrastructure in classified government environments.
• Build infrastructure-as-code and automate deployment, configuration, monitoring, and cloud-management activities using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and scripting.
• Monitor infrastructure and application performance, manage operational tickets and incidents, and troubleshoot cloud, access, networking, application, and service issues.
• Implement IAM, SSO, federation, security baselines, auditing policies, governance, compliance, and risk-management controls.
• Secure and harden Linux and Windows systems, AMIs, and cloud environments across IL5 and IL6+ classification domains.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and engineering teams on containers, microservices, serverless systems, and scalable cloud architectures.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI Poly.
• Relevant cloud, systems, infrastructure, or engineering experience, with 4–7 years for Cloud Engineer I, 8–9 years for Cloud Engineer II, or 10+ years for Cloud Engineer III.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience with EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudFormation, and secure or classified government cloud environments.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, cloud security controls, enterprise identity technologies, and Linux or Windows hardening.
• Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, networking, microservices, serverless computing, and cloud architecture patterns.
• Current certification meeting DoD 8140/8570 requirements, such as Security+ or above, and eligibility to work in the United States are required.

Nice to have

• Experience across multiple classification domains, including IL5, IL6, or higher environments.
• Advanced Terraform automation, production Kubernetes or EKS, DevSecOps, and CI/CD experience.
• Experience with Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS certifications, or large-scale cloud modernization initiatives.
• Architecture guidance, technical leadership, mentoring, microservices, or serverless architecture experience.
