Counsel Senior Manager, Privacy & Data Security

Location: Hybrid role requiring three days per week at the New York City office at One Madison Avenue in Manhattan

Salary: $146,000–$182,000 USD annually, plus potential short-term or long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Provide legal advice on state privacy laws, data security, artificial intelligence, commercial agreements, service provider agreements, and incident response.
• Draft and update privacy notices for products and business lines.
• Review privacy and data security policies and procedures.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data security provisions in vendor and business partner contracts.
• Review artificial intelligence projects as a subject matter expert in privacy, cybersecurity, and AI regulation.
• Advise on cybersecurity incident preparation and response while partnering with business, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier law school.
• Active license to practice law in good standing in any US jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of dedicated privacy and data security legal experience at a nationally recognized law firm or as in-house counsel at a large corporation.
• Meaningful knowledge of data privacy and security issues, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, resourcefulness, organization, and sound business judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• IAPP CIPP/US or another relevant IAPP certification.
• Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating technology transaction agreements.
• Experience advising on emerging technologies such as Generative AI.
• Experience interfacing with regulators or working in a highly regulated industry.
