Corporate Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States; remote employees must reside in AL, AR, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, or WI. The role is based in Rothschild, United States, and requires quarterly travel.

Salary: USD $115,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Draft, review, negotiate, and maintain commercial agreements, including NDAs, SaaS agreements, vendor agreements, and operational contracts.
• Provide legal analysis and advice on consumer finance matters, including UCC filings, consumer bankruptcy actions, and probate matters.
• Support litigation processes by managing subpoena responses and legal holds and monitoring collections-related litigation.
• Respond to consumer complaints, examination requests, and licensing matters.
• Review policies and procedures, assess business activities for compliance, and collaborate with Compliance, outside counsel, vendors, and business teams.
• Provide corporate legal support to the General Counsel and help achieve business outcomes while minimizing legal risk.

Requirements

• Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability to register as in-house counsel in Wisconsin.
• At least 2 years of legal experience; in-house legal department or consumer finance experience is preferred.
• Ability to analyze scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to present information effectively to senior management, public groups, and boards of directors.
• Ability to work accurately under deadline pressure, adapt to change, follow direction, and collaborate effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
