Controller (Full-Time) - East Coast/Eastern Time Zone

Location: Remote, limited to candidates located on the US East Coast/Eastern Time Zone. The role requires some early-morning or late-day availability to collaborate across multiple time zones.

What you will do

• Own the monthly close and deliver accurate financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis for CFO review.
• Maintain the rolling cash forecast and annual budget, and oversee payroll journal entries and liability reconciliations.
• Review journal entries and account reconciliations while overseeing vendor setup, payments, corporate cards, expense reports, and internal controls.
• Lead audit fieldwork and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Manage accounting policies and intercompany processes across affiliated entities.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, lead system implementations, and improve accounting workflows and controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including two to three years as a controller, assistant controller, or accounting manager.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end and year-end close, and internal control frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll journal entries, and payroll-related liabilities.
• Experience supervising accounting staff, proficiency with an accounting or ERP system, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Must be located on the US East Coast/Eastern Time Zone; recurring deadlines may require extended hours during peak periods.

• CPA license or active CPA candidacy.
• Multi-entity, subsidiary, or cross-border accounting experience.
• Experience with corporate card and expense management platforms.
• Experience coordinating external financial audits.
• Background in e-commerce, retail, media, production, or creative services.
