Regional Controller, Canada

Location: Remote in Canada, preferred location Toronto, Ontario; up to 10% travel may be required, including travel to company headquarters

What you will do

• Lead Canadian federal and provincial tax, regulatory, statutory reporting, and compliance activities.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.
• Investigate balance sheet reconciliations, accounting variances, and financial discrepancies, escalating risks and recommendations.
• Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, Operations, and external advisors on budgeting, forecasting, contract accounting, and operational finance initiatives.
• Support external audits, ERP initiatives, process improvements, and internal control enhancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of related experience or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting, tax, statutory reporting, labor, payroll, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with financial reporting, controllership, compliance, audit management, and multinational or cross-border operations.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and multinational financial reporting environments.
• Fluency in English and French, written and verbal, is required. CPA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred; ERP experience is required and SAP experience is preferred.

• CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• SAP experience.
• Experience with project accounting, long-term contract accounting, construction accounting, and revenue recognition.
