Substation Protection & Control Designer - Remote

Location: Nationwide remote within the United States; the posting also lists Reston, Virginia, United States of America.

Salary: $67,355.00–$114,503.00 per year

What you will do

• Design and prepare protection and control drawings for high-voltage substations from 12kV to 500kV.
• Develop relay one-lines and three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and point-to-point wiring diagrams.
• Prepare SCADA and communication diagrams.
• Coordinate with physical, settings, and drafting disciplines to deliver accurate design packages.
• Interpret vendor information and apply client standards to project deliverables.
• Follow QA/QC processes and continuously improve technical and professional skills.

Requirements

• AA degree or high school diploma.
• Experience with substation transmission design.
• At least 3 years of detailed wiring design experience, including single lines, schematics, and relay panels.
• At least 3 years of experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.
• Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams and point-to-point wiring requirements.
• Knowledge of applicable standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.

Nice to have

• Ability to assist lead engineers with initial design requirements.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of techniques and tools used to produce technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
