TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer (AI): Building and scaling web-scraping infrastructure and LLM workflows that transform medical payer policies into structured, searchable data with an accent on reliability, data accuracy, and healthcare-domain normalization. Focus on designing ingestion pipelines, extracting CPT and ICD-10 codes, evaluating coverage classifications, and leading architectural decisions for production systems.
Location: Remote from Latin America, including Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and Venezuela. Full overlap with US Eastern business hours is required.

connects high-caliber candidates with startups in the US and EU. The client is a seed-stage healthcare data company building a central source of payer policy data for coverage decisions.
What you will do
- Build and scale web-scraping infrastructure collecting policy data from more than 100 insurance payers.
- Own the scraper pipeline from ingestion through storage, improving reliability, throughput, and data accuracy.
- Develop LLM workflows that extract medical codes, coverage rules, and structured records from unstructured policy text.
- Build evaluation and testing harnesses for extraction and classification accuracy.
- Design APIs and support the Snowflake-based data product used by customers.
- Review pull requests, make architectural decisions, and document technical direction for part-time and offshore engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems in Python.
- Production experience with SQL and PostgreSQL for large datasets.
- Experience building pipelines that ingest, clean, and normalize messy or unstructured data.
- Hands-on experience deploying backend services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience reviewing code and owning architectural decisions in a shared codebase.
- C1 English required for daily video calls and technical discussions with US-based founders.
Nice to have
- LLM-based extraction or classification experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or similar tools.
- Web scraping at scale with Scrapy, Playwright, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with RAG pipelines, Terraform, FastAPI, or Snowflake.
- Exposure to healthcare payer policies, CPT, ICD-10, or prior authorization.
