AI Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote or hybrid based in Mexico City, Mexico; flexible access to the Roma Norte office.

What you will do

• Own finance AI workflows end to end, from problem definition and system design through production launch and continuous improvement.
• Design agentic and LLM-based systems using extraction, retrieval, reasoning, tool use, and human review for high-value financial decisions.
• Build production-grade LLM pipelines with structured outputs, validation, fallbacks, confidence scoring, and model cost and latency controls.
• Develop RAG components, including chunking, embeddings, vector search, and re-ranking, grounded in customer documents and policies.
• Integrate AI services with backend systems through reliable APIs, retries, graceful degradation, and per-customer data isolation.
• Create evaluations, monitoring, dashboards, alerts, and audit trails while setting shared AI engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and operating AI or LLM systems in production.
• Experience owning large systems or workflows end to end with limited direction.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, structured outputs, error handling, evaluations, agentic workflows, or RAG systems.
• Strong Python and backend fundamentals, including REST APIs, relational databases, asynchronous patterns, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with AI observability, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring, plus regular use of AI coding agents.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English is required.

• Experience in fintech, financial services, regulated industries, or finance and back-office automation.
• Technical leadership of a project or small engineering group.
• Startup or scale-up experience building systems from scratch.
• Spanish or Portuguese fluency.
• Open-source contributions, technical writing, or talks on applied AI.
