Mainframe z/VM System Programmer (IBM Z)

Location: Plano, Texas, United States; onsite role. Other listed location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.

Annual base salary: USD 109,700–175,500, plus discretionary bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM z/VM operating systems.
• Define and manage VM guests running z/OS, z/VM, z/Linux, and z/VSE.
• Coordinate virtual and real resource allocation with VM guest owners.
• Configure and administer VM service machines, including RSCS, TCPIP SSL, VTAM, and certificate management.
• Build, back up, and restore DCSS and NSS segments.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and configure IBM, hirify.global, and other third-party VM products in a high-availability production environment.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience administering and supporting IBM z/VM.
• Experience provisioning and managing z/OS, z/VM, and z/VSE guests under z/VM.
• Experience working in demanding, high-availability production environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8+ years of related experience, or a master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 6+ years of related experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Plano, Texas, United States.

Nice to have

• Expertise in Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) and Input/Output Configuration Data Set (IOCDS) management.
• Experience managing processor, channel, control unit, and device definitions.
• Technical knowledge of IBM Z hardware configuration and I/O subsystem design.
