Senior DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer & Database Administrator (DBA) (Mainframe)

Location: Must be located at a hirify.global site in Plano, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, or Lisle, IL, USA

Annual base salary: USD 109,700–175,500

What you will do

• Install, maintain, upgrade, patch, configure, and tune multiple DB2 z/OS instances and subsystems across R&D development labs.
• Design and maintain DB2 Data Sharing groups, high-availability configurations, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Integrate DB2 with z/OS security frameworks, network services, storage systems, and mainframe operating system components.
• Provide tier-3 DBA support, including physical and logical database design, utility management, access control, SQL optimization, and concurrency troubleshooting.
• Automate DB2 deployment and maintenance using Ansible playbooks, Python, REXX, JCL, CI/CD pipelines, and REST APIs.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and cloud architecture teams to support product delivery and infrastructure stability.

Requirements

• Deep experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining DB2 subsystems on z/OS.
• Strong DB2 DBA expertise, including database design, utility management, SQL performance tuning, access control, and multi-tenant database administration.
• Proficiency with Ansible, Python, REXX, JCL, and REST APIs for mainframe automation.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 Data Sharing, high availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and storage integration.
• Thorough understanding of z/OS concepts, mainframe security integration, JCL, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience, Master’s degree with 6+ years, or equivalent practical experience.
