Cloud Computing Application Architect (AWS)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; position is contingent on contract award.

Salary: USD $100,000–$110,000 per year; final determination depends on skills, qualifications, and approved funding.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud architectures for Public Health data modernization.
• Assess on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments and recommend appropriate tools, architectures, and solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and modernization stakeholders on architecture strategy, standards, and technical execution.
• Deploy and troubleshoot AWS and hybrid cloud solutions while maintaining governance, engineering, and security standards.
• Use Gen-AI tools to improve development workflows, solution quality, and technical team productivity.
• Expand cloud delivery through automation, DevOps, cloud-native security, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications in cloud environments.
• 3+ years of experience developing with .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL.
• Experience architecting and deploying AWS and hybrid cloud solutions, including secure cloud-based architectures.
• Experience with IaaS deployment and troubleshooting, Linux or Unix systems, shell scripting, CI/CD, and automation tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Gen-AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, plus the ability to lead technical teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud cost optimization and governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting CDC environments, data modernization initiatives, or federal IT programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect certification.
