Solution Architect (AI/Azure)

Location: Remote; based onshore in the United States or Canada for Healthcare work, with travel required as needed. Listed locations: Chicago, Illinois and Toronto, Canada.

Base salary: $145,000–$170,000 USD annually. Total estimated compensation including annual incentive: $174,000–$204,000 USD.

What you will do

• Frame business problems, determine where AI is appropriate, and define measurable outcomes.
• Own end-to-end solution architecture on Microsoft Azure, covering models, retrieval, agents, data, identity, networking, and security.
• Design secure, governed, observable, and cost-aware production solutions aligned with the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
• Translate business requirements into buildable designs and serve as the primary link between the business and engineering pod.
• Build architecture-dependent components with engineers, including infrastructure as code, retrieval pipelines, and agent orchestration.
• Adapt solution designs to the relevant industry domain and regulated-data requirements.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in solution or cloud architecture, including at least 3 years designing on Microsoft Azure and 1–2 years in a leadership capacity.
• At least 2 years designing or delivering AI or machine learning solutions, including one generative AI solution deployed to production.
• Working knowledge of Azure identity, networking, and security, including Entra ID, private networking, Key Vault, and role-based access control.
• Experience turning unclear business problems into actionable technical designs and facilitating communication with executives and engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• For Healthcare work, candidates must be based onshore in the United States or Canada.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure AI Engineer Associate, or Claude Certified Architect - Foundations.
• Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, and Anthropic Claude models.
• Experience designing and building RAG systems, AI agents, and evaluation frameworks.
• Infrastructure as code with Bicep or Terraform and CI/CD with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Healthcare or higher education domain experience, including regulated data.
