Software Engineering Manager, Information Systems

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work required three days per week. The company is currently registered and able to hire in AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IA, ID, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VT, VA, and WA. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and a reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required U.S. export authorization.

Salary: $196,000–$217,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and grow a full-stack software engineering team responsible for internal software, platforms, integrations, and automated tools.
• Set standards for code quality, architecture, design reviews, testing, security, observability, and operational reliability.
• Partner with Product Management and stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Mission Operations to execute the Information Systems roadmap.
• Own end-to-end delivery of internal software from product concept through deployment, adoption, and ongoing support.
• Stay hands-on with architecture, technology selection, code review, and implementation.
• Guide buy-versus-build decisions and integrate enterprise systems such as ERP, PLM, MES, and Supply Chain platforms to automate data flows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience on high-performing software teams, including significant full-stack development.
• 3+ years of direct software engineering management experience while remaining hands-on.
• Experience owning complex software systems from design through production, preferably internal tools, enterprise software, or business systems.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React or similar modern frontend frameworks, PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, and REST/GraphQL API design.
• Experience building technical roadmaps and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP, PLM, MES, HRIS, or ATS platforms, including SAP S/4HANA.
• Experience with Google Cloud, containerized deployments, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience in export-controlled or compliance-driven environments.
• Experience applying AI/ML to automate business workflows.
• Space systems, hardware manufacturing, or high-growth startup experience.
