Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; in-office

Salary: $200,000–$400,000 annual salary plus equity

hirify.global develops and scales vLLM as an AI inference engine, working across models, hardware, and inference infrastructure.

What you will do

• Lead engineering teams working on inference systems, performance, kernels, accelerators, and cloud infrastructure.
• Own team execution, prioritization, hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Translate company priorities into technical direction, team goals, ownership, and execution plans.
• Build effective operating rhythms for planning, technical reviews, decision-making, cross-team coordination, and accountability.
• Partner with engineering and company leadership to remove blockers and improve team effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience managing strong software engineers in systems, infrastructure, ML systems, distributed systems, or performance-oriented environments.
• At least 2 years of management experience with 10 or more direct reports.
• Strong technical credibility and the ability to reason about architecture, challenge assumptions, and support senior engineers.
• Experience with the full people-management lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, feedback, performance management, career development, team health, and retention.
• Ability to work in-office in San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI or ML infrastructure, model serving, distributed systems, GPU infrastructure, compilers, performance engineering, cloud infrastructure, or developer platforms.
• Familiarity with vLLM, SGLang, PyTorch, CUDA, Triton, Kubernetes, distributed serving, or accelerator infrastructure.
• Experience managing senior, staff, principal, research-adjacent, or PhD engineers.
• Experience scaling engineering teams through rapid hiring and building management practices in an early-stage company.
• Open-source contributions to infrastructure, AI systems, developer tools, or technically ambitious products.
