Senior Software Engineer, Backend - International (Golang/AWS)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work

Salary: CAD 188,000–242,000 per year for the Toronto-based position

What you will do

• Own large-scope backend projects from discovery through launch, focusing on outcomes and customer impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers and product managers, to solve customer challenges.
• Improve the performance, reliability, scalability, testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment of existing systems.
• Add capabilities to high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure.
• Protect and compartmentalize highly sensitive data.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, documentation, and knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional hands-on software engineering experience.
• Mastery of modern server-side languages; Golang is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency with SQL and cloud infrastructure management, preferably AWS.
• Experience supporting and mentoring engineers and acting as a force multiplier.
• Experience working closely with designers and product managers.
• Strong judgment, resourcefulness, teamwork, communication, influence, and leadership skills.
