Engineering Manager, Backend - International

What you will do

• Lead and oversee a team of backend software engineers as a player-coach.
• Prioritize, schedule, and deliver projects with Engineering, Product, and Design.
• Define the team strategy and quarterly roadmap, setting goals and measuring progress.
• Make technical decisions and lead technical discussions across engineering teams.
• Mentor, hire, develop, and retain engineers while fostering technical excellence.
• Improve internal workflows and user experiences through cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production web applications.
• At least 1 year of experience managing an engineering team.
• Experience prioritizing, creating, and delivering plans.
• Strong communication, empathy, interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, data stores, algorithms, distributed systems, and common web development patterns.
• Experience with technologies including Golang, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, MySQL, Kafka, AWS, Redis, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, CircleCI, and DataDog.
