Senior Accountant (Revenue Accounting)

What you will do

• Review customer contracts, including non-standard terms, and determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Own revenue-related monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and contract scoping analyses.
• Analyze deferred revenue, contract assets, unbilled receivables, and accounts receivable for completeness, trends, and material variances.
• Prepare financial reporting documentation, technical accounting schedules, and audit responses while supporting SOX controls and audit readiness.
• Partner with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Revenue Operations to resolve contract-related accounting matters.
• Identify and implement AI, automation, and process improvement opportunities to increase accounting efficiency and scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, revenue accounting, or financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and revenue accounting concepts, with experience applying ASC 606 preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and analysis of large datasets.
• Experience preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, investigating variances, and managing financial close deliverables.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or progress toward CPA licensure.
• Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, audit documentation, and financial reporting.
• Experience in a SaaS, technology, or subscription-based business with recurring revenue models.
• Knowledge of Power Query, XLOOKUP, financial modeling, RPA, ERP systems, or revenue management platforms.
• Experience implementing AI-powered tools or other technologies for accounting process improvement.
