Cloud Computing Application Architect (AWS)

Location: Remote, Oregon, United States. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and able to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust or suitability determination.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud architectures for Public Health data modernization.
• Assess on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments and recommend appropriate tools, architectures, and solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and modernization stakeholders on architecture strategy, standards, and technical execution.
• Deploy and troubleshoot solutions in AWS and hybrid cloud environments while following governance, engineering, and security standards.
• Use Gen-AI tools to improve development workflows, solution quality, and technical productivity.
• Expand cloud delivery through automation, DevOps, cloud-native security, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications in cloud environments.
• 3+ years of development experience with .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL.
• Experience with AWS, hybrid cloud architecture, secure cloud design, IaaS deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Linux or Unix systems, shell scripting, CI/CD, and automation tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Gen-AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, plus the ability to lead technical teams.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence is required; the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust or suitability determination is required. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud cost optimization, governance frameworks, CDC environments, data modernization, or federal IT programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
