Software Development Manager, Ring Video Platform

What you will do

• Set the technical direction, roadmap, and long-term platform strategy for a video platform team.
• Lead architecture, performance, reliability, and design trade-off discussions for real-time video systems.
• Prototype innovative approaches and turn promising ideas into production systems.
• Shape the use of AI across design, coding, review, testing, and operations.
• Hire, coach, and develop software engineers while building a culture of ownership and high standards.
• Coordinate launches across device, cloud, app, product, and program management teams, and communicate decisions to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Experience managing engineering teams and working directly within engineering organizations.
• Experience with the full software, hardware, and network development lifecycle, including coding standards, reviews, source control, builds, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
• Experience defining and developing multi-tier web services.
• Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems for reliability and scaling.
• Experience partnering with product and program management teams.

Nice to have

• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership about requirements, product features, technical designs, and strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers.
