Digital Product Design Intern (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, USA, with possible placement in Medina, Minnesota, USA. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must be open to relocation. The role is performed in an office or studio environment with occasional vehicle and field testing.

Salary: $19.50–$30.75 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime.

What you will do

• Design digital interfaces for vehicle displays, including infotainment, controls, and system UI.
• Support mobile app and web experience design that complements vehicle systems.
• Create wireframes, user flows, interaction concepts, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Maintain design systems, components, UI standards, design assets, and documentation for engineering handoff.
• Participate in usability tests, user interviews, rider research, and field testing sessions.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and product owners through design reviews and iteration.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BS or BA in Digital Product Design, UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, HCI, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design tools.
• Understanding of UX principles, usability, interaction design, and user-centered research.
• Ability to communicate ideas through sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and clear design rationale.
• A portfolio is required and must demonstrate UX/UI thinking, wireframes, user flows, interaction design, prototypes, and problem-solving.
• Must be at least 18 years old, authorized to work in the United States, and able to complete applicable background checks. Visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with user testing and feedback.
• Interest or experience in powersports, automotive, or outdoor recreation.
