UI-UX Designer (Government Systems)

Location: McLean, Virginia; full-time onsite work required. U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with required polygraph are required.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end UX and UI design, from research and analysis through interaction design, prototyping, and delivery.
• Plan and conduct interviews, usability testing, and feedback sessions with analysts, subject-matter experts, managers, and data scientists.
• Synthesize research into personas, user journeys, workflow maps, service blueprints, and actionable recommendations.
• Define and evolve design systems, component libraries, interaction patterns, and design standards with engineering teams.
• Create interactive prototypes and high-fidelity interfaces using Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent tools.
• Document interaction behavior, design rationale, and microcopy while supporting accessible and compliant implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of professional UI/UX design experience, including UX research, analysis, and synthesis.
• Strong proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent design and prototyping tools.
• Experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders and clearly communicating design decisions.
• U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance with required polygraph.
• Ability and willingness to work onsite full time in McLean, Virginia.

Nice to have

• Portfolio demonstrating UX research methodology, analysis, and UI design quality.
• Experience designing mission-critical or government systems.
• Familiarity with WCAG, inclusive design, and modern front-end component-based development.
• Experience contributing to design systems or supporting data-heavy analytical workflows.
