Software Engineer — DBA

Location: US Remote

Annual base compensation: $114,000–$180,000, depending on geographic location and relevant experience.

What you will do

• Contribute to highly available open-source database solutions using MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and TiDB.
• Review database architecture and recommend improvements or address design gaps.
• Protect and back up data across production and non-production environments.
• Diagnose slow queries, optimize database performance, and recover from replication failures.
• Automate infrastructure and operational activities using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Participate in on-call support and collaborate with DevOps engineers, architects, and business stakeholders across time zones.

Requirements

• Experience running MariaDB and PostgreSQL in highly available environments.
• Experience recovering from replication failures and optimizing database performance.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipeline concepts.
• Development experience with Golang and Python or similar programming languages.
• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Comfort working in Linux environments, including Rocky Linux, CentOS, RHEL, and Ubuntu; familiarity with Ansible is preferred.
