Director, Software Engineering - Platform & Tool Development (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, with listed work-at-home locations in New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Kentucky; occasional travel to hirify.global offices may be required.

Salary: $189,400–$260,500 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Define the technology vision, engineering strategy, and delivery roadmap for the Enterprise Quality Engineering Platform, AI Workspace, AI-powered engineering tools, and shared services.
• Lead multiple engineering teams through the design, development, modernization, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms and applications.
• Drive cloud-native architectures using microservices, APIs, containerization, event-driven systems, AWS, and Azure.
• Oversee AI-enabled platforms and applications, including Generative AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, governance, security, and responsible AI practices.
• Provide technical and architectural leadership through design reviews, code reviews, technical assessments, and resolution of scalability, performance, and production issues.
• Build and develop high-performing engineering organizations through mentoring, workforce planning, succession planning, and career development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering and application development experience, including 5+ years leading large-scale software development teams.
• Experience delivering enterprise applications, platforms, cloud-native solutions, scalable shared services, and highly available systems.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, microservices, PostgreSQL, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure as code, distributed systems, API ecosystems, event-driven architectures, and platform engineering.
• Must be located in the United States for the remote work arrangement and maintain a dedicated workspace that protects member PHI and HIPAA information. Home internet must provide at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.

Nice to have

• Experience developing AI-enabled applications, Generative AI, large language models, AI agents, or AI-assisted software development solutions.
• Experience with quality engineering, software testing, automation, developer enablement, or engineering productivity platforms.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, Terraform, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and observability platforms.
• Experience in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
