Senior Director, AI Engineering

Location: US-based hybrid role, based out of the Arlington, VA or New York City office

Annual base salary: $229,600–$337,000, plus discretionary bonus and company equity.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering team building the AI and data engine powering the real-time intelligence platform.
• Define technical strategies that translate AI, deep learning, and machine learning research into scalable product capabilities.
• Partner with scientists, engineers, product managers, and business teams to deliver solutions for real-time event detection across NLP, computer vision, information retrieval, and knowledge graphs.
• Define and track model quality, cost, and integrated end-to-end performance metrics.
• Modify model workflows, evaluations, and outputs while directing changes to technical approaches.
• Lead engineers and scientists with a human-centered focus on context and end-user impact.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of software engineering experience in a cloud-native environment, including AWS and Kubernetes.
• At least 5 years of experience leading software engineers in an AI team.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks, LLMs, agent harnesses, and compound AI systems, including technologies such as PyTorch, Langfuse, LangGraph, Weaviate, and A2A.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning, deep learning, or LLM systems at scale in NLP, computer vision, information retrieval, or a related field, preferably for real-time applications.
• Track record of delivering complex AI projects, excellent communication skills, and the ability to connect research stages and complex technologies into end-to-end solutions.
