Director, Developer Platform Engineering

Location: US - Remote

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Define the long-term strategy and roadmap for the Developer Platform across an organization of 600+ engineers.
• Own the end-to-end developer experience, including local development, builds, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Modernize CI/CD platforms, standardize pipelines, and drive GitOps and progressive delivery practices such as canary and blue/green deployments.
• Establish scalable infrastructure and strategy for unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing.
• Lead adoption of generative AI and agentic tools for coding, testing, and documentation with responsible-use practices.
• Recruit and develop the platform engineering organization, mentor managers and senior engineers, and align stakeholders across Engineering.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant leadership of platform engineering or developer infrastructure teams.
• 5+ years of experience leading managers in large technical organizations.
• Demonstrated success setting platform strategy for organizations with hundreds of engineers and leading large-scale engineering transformations.
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and developer experience practices.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence.
• Ability to work remotely in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Flux.
• Knowledge of Gradle, Bazel, Nx, progressive deployment, feature flags, internal developer platforms, and developer portals.
• Experience with DORA or SPACE metrics, observability platforms, and AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Anthropic.
