Infrastructure Analyst

Location: Oxford Road, Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. The role involves on-site maintenance of HPC/HTC computational platforms. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: £33,002–£36,636 per annum, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Provide practical user support for HPC and HTC computational platforms through a ticketing system, in person, and via video.
• Help deliver face-to-face training courses.
• Maintain on-site HPC and HTC infrastructure.
• Configure, install, remove, test, and commission hardware and software in line with agreed standards.
• Diagnose faults, resolve known or moderately complex problems, document results, and escalate when necessary.
• Monitor installation performance, report progress, and update configuration management records.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the university's systems, applications, technologies, and equipment.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks, applications, and service processes.
• Ability to install and maintain hardware safely and within planned specifications.
• Experience installing, testing, and commissioning supplier-specific equipment and software.
• Knowledge of progress reporting and financial conformance against an agreed plan.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom; visa sponsorship is not available.
