Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Own delivery, milestones, quality gates, and cross-team dependencies across a multi-team or multi-domain scope.
• Set engineering strategy and roadmap with Product, connecting investment decisions to revenue, retention, margin, customer needs, and market signals.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives through clear narratives, durable plans, RFCs, escalation memos, and postmortems.
• Shape technical direction and technical debt strategy with Staff+ engineers while supporting experimentation and learning from failures.
• Maintain operational discipline across on-call, incident response, postmortems, reliability targets, DORA and SLO metrics, costs, and unit economics.
• Design the operating model, hire and develop senior engineers and team leads, and build the next layer of engineering leaders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience and 4–6+ years of people leadership experience.
• Experience owning outcomes for more than one team or for a domain spanning several teams.
• Ability to communicate trade-offs credibly with senior leaders, including VPs and CPOs, and produce concise, decision-driving written work.
• Proven experience hiring, developing, and promoting technical leads, engineering managers, and senior individual contributors.
• Technical credibility and the ability to shape direction through influence while partnering with Staff and Principal engineers.
• Commercial fluency, comfort with difficult performance and prioritization conversations, and pragmatic execution under pressure.
