Manager Engineering (d/f/m, AI)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; hybrid with 1–2 office days depending on location. Roles are also open in Zürich, Switzerland.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and mentor approximately 7–9 professionals, including Team Leads and Senior Engineers.
• Own career development and empower managers to lead their sub-teams effectively.
• Define the roadmap for integrating AI tools and agentic workflows into the engineering lifecycle.
• Manage resource planning, budgets, utilization, and the department’s operational performance.
• Partner with Directors and VPs to shape hirify.global’s technology vision in the DACH region.
• Build an inclusive, high-performance culture with rituals that encourage knowledge sharing and innovation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a people manager in a manager-of-managers structure or in leading a larger engineering department.
• Strong understanding of AI’s potential in the software development lifecycle and experience driving organizational change.
• Deep technical background in frontend development, including the ability to assess architectural decisions.
• Business acumen with an understanding of agency or consultancy economics and operational KPIs.
• Confident communication skills in German and English, including presenting complex technical topics to stakeholders and clients.
