Workers Compensation Claims Representative

Location: Appleton, Wisconsin, United States; other listed location: Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Initial training is in person, followed by a merit-based work-from-home program subject to job responsibilities and leadership approval.

Salary: $50,000–$81,500 base salary annually, plus bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Investigate workers compensation claims, assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate losses, analyze legal liability, and pay or deny claims.
• Review medical bills, authorize payments, and ensure accurate and timely disbursement.
• Conduct investigations by phone, mail, and on site.
• Gather information from employers, employees, hospitals, doctors, attorneys, agents, policyholders, and injured workers.
• Work toward claim resolution and attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials when necessary.
• Review insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to develop coverage knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent direct workers compensation claims handling experience with an insurance carrier.
• Familiarity with a broad range of medical terminology.
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and interpret data, multitask, make independent decisions, and resolve complex issues.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
