Staff Software Engineer - Customer Facing Applied AI

Location: Remote in the United Kingdom; based in London, with up to 15% travel to client sites and occasional work outside standard business hours to accommodate client time zones.

What you will do

• Build AI-powered agents and tools from client problem discovery through prototyping, evaluation, production deployment, and maintenance.
• Design LLM integrations using prompt engineering, function calling, structured outputs, and retrieval-augmented workflows.
• Define evaluation criteria and build test harnesses for domain-specific AI systems where correctness is ambiguous.
• Work directly with clients and domain experts to understand workflows, validate AI behavior, and iterate toward production quality.
• Partner with core engineering teams to turn client-specific solutions into scalable product features.
• Contribute to shared AI infrastructure, including agent frameworks, tool integrations, deployment pipelines, and production monitoring.

Requirements

• Extensive professional software engineering experience.
• Professional experience with Python and LLM APIs such as Claude or GPT, including function calling and structured outputs.
• Comfort with SQL for data exploration and data-grounded AI workflows.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar.
• Experience taking a project from zero to one, moving from prototype to production, and incorporating client feedback.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building agentic systems, multi-step tool use, agent orchestration, or durable workflows.
• Experience with additional backend languages, especially Java.
• Familiarity with financial data such as portfolios, transactions, securities, or accounting.
• Exposure to AWS, container-based deployments, or AI evaluation frameworks.
