Senior AI Engineer (LLMs & Agentic AI)

Location: Remote from Mexico, with availability during U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

What you will do

• Build and maintain production MCP servers, including tool and resource definitions, context management, and multi-step orchestration.
• Design intent classification, evaluation, and routing workflows that resolve requests into the correct APIs and data sources.
• Integrate Anthropic and OpenAI models into production applications and support the backend behavior of chat and MCP interfaces.
• Manage prompt versioning, fallback strategies, and LLM performance, cost, and latency optimization.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and SQL-based monitoring for model inputs, outputs, quality, and production performance.
• Collaborate on AI platform architecture and make safe, incremental changes within a partially documented Python codebase.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience building production AI applications with Python and LLM technologies.
• Personally authored and deployed an MCP server used by other users or systems in production.
• Strong Python backend engineering skills, including APIs, asynchronous I/O, typing, schema validation, error handling, and testing.
• Experience with SQL and cloud data warehouses, with Snowflake preferred.
• Experience designing and deploying conversational AI or agentic AI solutions, including prompt engineering, LLM integrations, and evaluation methodologies.
• Strong spoken English at B2+ level and availability for U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hugging Face, open-source model deployment, fine-tuning, GPU acceleration, or inference optimization.
• MLOps experience with CI/CD, observability, and reproducible pipelines.
• Experience with vector databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, applied NLP, or client-facing AI products.
• AWS experience with Batch, ECS, Lambda, or SQS.
