Mechanical Engineer (Audio Hardware)

Location: Shenzhen, China; ability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes with short notice

What you will do

• Scope, plan, and advise new mechanical architectures and component initiatives.
• Design and engineer transducers, acoustical components, mechanical components, and mechanisms from concept through launch using CAD software.
• Verify transducer design feasibility and system targets, and provide final mechanical design solutions.
• Perform modal and strength FEA using COMSOL or Ansys to validate structural integrity.
• Lead design reviews covering structural, manufacturing, and assembly perspectives, and coordinate development with engineering, product and program management, sourcing, and operations.
• Prototype and evaluate designs, create reliability and stress test plans, and troubleshoot mechanical and structural issues from prototypes and product builds.

Requirements

• BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in consumer electronics, audio hardware, or high-technology products.
• Advanced 3D modeling skills with CAD software, including NX, Creo, and preferably Onshape.
• Applied knowledge of GD&T and 2D/3D tolerance analysis, with expertise in DFM and DFA.
• Good understanding of product development processes for high-technology products.
• Solid experience with FEA simulation tools for modal and strength analysis, such as COMSOL or Ansys.
• Good understanding of mechanical component material properties, material selection, and high-volume manufacturing processes including injection molding, die casting, stamping, and CNC.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously, take ownership, and work effectively in a team.
• Fluency in English is required.

Nice to have

• Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin.
• Experience with Onshape.
• Experience in consumer electronics, audio hardware, or high-technology products.
