Assembly Process Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Develop end-to-end assembly routes, SOPs, process flowcharts, and PFMEAs for humanoid joints and whole-body integration.
• Design assembly fixtures, alignment jigs, press-fitting tools, cable-routing templates, and other tooling for precise, repeatable assembly.
• Lead DFM/DFA reviews with mechanical and electrical hardware teams and define fastening torque, thread-locking, potting, thermal-paste, and harness-routing procedures.
• Plan pilot-line layouts, workstation ergonomics, line balancing, takt-time targets, and capacity expansion roadmaps.
• Train technicians, manage pilot-batch assembly, track pass rates, and resolve production bottlenecks and non-conformances.
• Implement Poka-Yoke solutions, torque-tracking tools, end-of-line quality gates, and incoming-component inspection tooling with supply chain and quality teams.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of assembly process engineering experience in precision electro-mechanical assemblies, robotics, automotive subsystems, or complex machinery.
• Mastery of 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX for fixture design and 3D assembly-sequence simulation.
• Proven experience developing SOPs and PFMEAs, balancing assembly lines, and reducing cycle time or takt time.
• Deep knowledge of precision assembly methods, including bearing press-fitting, preload adjustment, adhesive potting, torque control, and dense harness routing.
• Strong root-cause problem-solving skills using 8D and 5-Why, with practical Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for training technicians and working with design engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing assembly lines for humanoid robots, robotic arms, quadrupeds, or precision joint actuators.
• Experience with semi-automated press-fit equipment, smart electric screwdrivers with data logging, and MES systems.
• Familiarity with NPI process gates and prototype-to-mass-production transfer.
• Comfort communicating technical topics in English with international teams.
