Director, Employment & Litigation Counsel

Location: United States; primarily covering U.S. matters. Classified as a corporate office position, with employees permitted to work remotely under the New York employer convenience rule.

Base salary: $220,000–$277,843 per year

What you will do

• Advise Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, business leaders, and cross-functional partners on employment compliance and workforce matters.
• Draft and update employment agreements, restrictive covenants, separation packages, and workforce policies.
• Lead or supervise investigations involving whistleblowing, harassment, discrimination, and code-of-conduct violations.
• Manage employment and commercial disputes, administrative charges, external counsel, e-discovery, litigation holds, subpoenas, and witness preparation.
• Communicate and negotiate with adverse parties, opposing counsel, regulatory agencies, and third-party claimants.
• Develop legal training programs and proactive risk-mitigation strategies for managers and HR professionals.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• At least seven years of U.S. HR-related legal experience in private practice and/or in-house roles at high-growth companies.
• Hands-on experience negotiating pre-litigation disputes and commercial claims with adverse parties, opposing counsel, and agency investigators.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, and wage-and-hour laws.
• Experience with workplace investigations, agency charges, commercial disputes, employee data protection, and civil procedure.
• Solution-oriented communication, strategic thinking, attention to detail, multitasking, and strong collaboration skills.
