Director (Technical Data Operations)

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and scale the operating model for converting legacy defense technical data into modern, manufacturing-ready models and drawings.
• Define standard workflows, training programs, and quality controls for multi-year technical data migration programs.
• Partner with software engineers to improve automation and reduce manual effort per technical data package.
• Plan and manage hiring, training, capacity, throughput, quality, and retention across multiple programs.
• Hire and develop leaders while expanding the organization from a founding team into separate operational groups.
• Ensure program-specific data-handling requirements are met while maintaining the quality standard.

Requirements

• Experience building and running a high-volume technical operation in production, engineering services, drawing conversion, or a similar environment, including scaling to 50 or more people.
• Experience hiring and training teams quickly and maintaining engagement in repetitive work.
• Experience managing operations through throughput and quality metrics, with at least 3 years leading other leaders.
• Engineering-drawing expertise sufficient to own the quality standard, including GD&T and model-based definition.
• Engineering or STEM degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.

• Experience building a team from the ground up at a startup or fast-growing company.
• Experience leading a large legacy-to-modern technical data or PLM migration.
• Experience automating a manual engineering process in partnership with a software team.
• Teamcenter or CATIA experience.
• Naval, submarine, or federal technical data program experience.
