Director — FDE Office (Forward Deployed Engineering) (AI)

Expected salary range: $191,000–$332,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and develop a blended team of internal engineers, NCG resources, and contractor FDEs.
• Establish the CIO FDE Office operating model, engineering standards, delivery methodology, staffing plans, and capability-building strategy.
• Own portfolio intake, prioritization, delivery sequencing, production-readiness gates, and enterprise architecture reviews.
• Set technical direction for enterprise AI agents across ServiceNow, Workday, SAP, supply chain, HR, and IT operations.
• Guide MCP integrations, APIs, multi-agent orchestration, cloud architecture, identity, observability, security, and resilience.
• Manage budgets, licensing, contracts, contractor spend, AI and cloud consumption, tokenomics dashboards, vendor relationships, and executive communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 12+ years of technology experience, including 5+ years leading engineering, delivery, or platform teams.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, coaching, and scaling blended internal and contractor teams.
• Experience owning budgets, licensing, statements of work, and technology cost governance.
• Strong architecture fluency across APIs, enterprise integration, cloud platforms, and modern application development.
• Experience partnering with senior business and C-suite stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering enterprise AI agents, MCP servers, LLM platforms, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, LangGraph, CrewAI, or Redpanda ADP.
• Knowledge of AI tokenomics, showback/chargeback, and cloud FinOps for generative AI workloads.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, BYOC solutions, ServiceNow, Workday, SAP, or Microsoft Graph APIs.
• Familiarity with TOGAF, APQC, LeanIX, or Bizzdesign.
• Experience leading ambiguous, fast-moving incubation environments.
