EH&S Manager (Biotech)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; regular on-site presence required

Salary: USD 107,445.10–145,366.90 annually

What you will do

• Lead site contractor safety oversight with Facilities, Engineering, project teams, service providers, and contractor employers.
• Own programs covering high-hazard work, confined space, hot work, line breaking, lockout-tagout, fall protection, machine guarding, and portable equipment safety.
• Review work plans, risk assessments, permits, job hazard analyses, training, and critical field controls before and during work.
• Conduct field visits, inspections, risk-based audits, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Provide hazard-recognition training, coaching, and practical guidance to employees, contractor supervisors, and approved designees.
• Serve as an EHS client representative for assigned process development laboratories and contribute to site governance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of science and technology EH&S experience.
• Alternatively, an associate’s degree with 6 years of science and technology EH&S experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 8 years of experience.
• Regular on-site work in Cambridge, Massachusetts is required, including access to laboratories, mechanical areas, service areas, and active project or contractor zones.
• Ability to conduct field assessments, complete required site training, and use personal protective equipment.
• Ability to lead diverse teams, influence management, communicate clearly, manage projects, and write technical documentation.
• Occasional schedule flexibility may be required for planned high-hazard work or urgent site events.

Nice to have

• Certified Safety Professional credential.
• Experience with program development and project management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer software systems.
• Experience using AI tools responsibly with ethical human oversight.
