Staff Software Engineer (DevOps / Platform Engineering) (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; strong preference for candidates based in Boston or San Francisco

Salary: $180,000–$240,000 for Boston or $190,000–$250,000 for San Francisco, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and operation of AWS infrastructure, including EKS, networking, IAM, VPCs, PBX systems, and secure environment isolation.
• Own canary routing, GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, artifact promotion, and safe deployment strategies.
• Manage MTLS proxy infrastructure, HAProxy fleets, certificate lifecycles, root CAs, and IP-restricted ingress.
• Lead incident response, on-call operations, postmortems, and reliability improvements across voice, agent runtime, and workflow systems.
• Build internal platform tools and abstractions that improve developer productivity while enforcing security, configuration hygiene, and compliance.
• Partner with AI Platform, Forward Deployed Engineering, and Product teams, while mentoring DevOps, platform, and backend engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering operating production systems at scale.
• Deep hands-on AWS experience with EKS, IAM, VPC, ALB/NLB, CloudWatch, and KMS.
• Strong Kubernetes, container orchestration, multi-environment management, Terraform or other IaC, and GitOps experience.
• High proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript for automation, tooling, and internal platform services.
• Experience with Traefik, HAProxy, CI/CD systems, secure network architectures, MTLS, certificate hierarchies, and service-to-service authentication.
• Ability to lead incidents, design SLOs, drive reliability, and communicate effectively across distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with PBX, telephony, SIP routing, WebRTC, voice agents, or low-latency streaming.
• Background in regulated or enterprise environments with strong compliance requirements.
• Experience scaling infrastructure in fast-growth startups.
• Open-source contributions, infrastructure talks, or technical publications.
