Principal Engineer, Automotive Innovation & Advanced Technologies (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; candidates must reside within a commutable distance. Hybrid schedule with on-site presence required at least three days per week and remote work available up to two days per week. Up to 15% travel is required. Relocation assistance is not offered.

What you will do

• Scout, evaluate, and assess emerging automotive technologies and develop technology roadmaps.
• Engage with startups, suppliers, technology partners, customers, and research organizations to evaluate innovative solutions.
• Lead proof-of-concept and prototype activities to validate new technologies.
• Provide technical leadership in advanced domains such as ADAS, camera and vision systems, zonal architectures, Phone-as-a-Key, connectivity, and software-defined vehicles.
• Transition innovative concepts into application-ready solutions by defining requirements, development roadmaps, industrialization plans, and validation concepts.
• Prepare technical recommendations and business cases while supporting customer engagements, technical discussions, and demonstrations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of automotive industry experience and experience delivering production automotive systems.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electronics, electrical architectures, and system integration.
• Demonstrated experience bringing innovative technologies from concept to production.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Novi, Michigan, at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Deep expertise in ADAS, automotive camera technology, zonal compute architecture, Phone-as-a-Key, connectivity, or software-defined vehicle technology.
• Experience working with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
• Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in automotive environments.
• Experience with innovation processes, technology incubation, advanced engineering organizations, patent generation, technology scouting, licensing, or research.
