Onsite Validation Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Bring up new autonomous vehicles and validate steering, braking, and throttle systems through static and dynamic checks.
• Develop automated testing scripts and calibration tools for vehicle bring-up and post-maintenance validation.
• Contribute to motion-control software for steering and speed control.
• Build mathematical models of vehicle behavior, actuator response, and system delays.
• Test, tune, and calibrate controllers across vehicle platforms and operating conditions.
• Analyze test data, diagnose issues, and implement safety features such as fault detection, command validation, timeout monitoring, and safe recovery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Control Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Approximately three years of experience in robotics, control systems, autonomous vehicles, or a similar technical field.
• Strong knowledge of feedback control principles, vehicle dynamics, and controller evaluation.
• Experience with system modeling, system identification, or dynamic system analysis.
• Familiarity with electromechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic actuation systems.
• Proficiency in modern C++ development on Linux, with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ROS or ROS 2.
• Experience integrating software with drive-by-wire or embedded vehicle-control systems.
• Hands-on deployment of robotic or autonomous systems in real-world environments.
• Knowledge of functional safety, risk analysis, or control-related failure analysis.
• Understanding of autonomous-driving software stacks and the interaction between control, perception, localization, and planning.
