Cloud Engineer (AWS): Designing, deploying, securing, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure and cloud-native services for mission-critical law enforcement and scientific applications with an accent on Infrastructure-as-Code, networking, security, and operational resilience. Focus on architecting highly available environments, automating multi-environment deployments, troubleshooting complex systems, and optimizing reliability, cost, and compliance.
Location: Quantico, Virginia, United States; office-based
Salary: $150,000–$175,000 per year

What you will do
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Architect highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable environments aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Manage AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
- Implement networking, security, encryption, monitoring, logging, and compliance controls.
- Support Dev, Test, and Prod environments, including patching, upgrades, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, engineering, and data teams to improve reliability, cost efficiency, and operational stability.
Requirements
- US citizenship and an active Top-Secret Clearance are required.
- 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure.
- 5+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Strong knowledge of AWS core services, networking, IAM, encryption, logging, and compliance controls.
- 5+ years of Linux system administration experience.
- Experience with Bash or Python automation and large, complex cloud systems and data sets.
Nice to have
- Experience with SAFe, Kanban, ITIL, or NIST configuration management practices.
- Experience with Jira workflows, dashboards, and reporting metrics.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Federal Government or Department of Justice cybersecurity experience.
- Interest in emerging technologies and adapting to evolving requirements.
