Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Location: Fairfax, Virginia, United States; hybrid remote/onsite capacity with less than 10% travel to CONUS locations, primarily Northern Virginia.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Deploy and maintain multi-component AWS and hybrid-cloud solutions for Department of War mission partners.
• Implement containerized workloads with Docker, Amazon ECS, EKS, and Fargate.
• Build and configure serverless components using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Step Functions.
• Maintain compliance with DoW security requirements and NIST/FedRAMP frameworks.
• Execute functional, interoperability, security, network, and system maintenance activities.
• Automate updates, STIGs, operating-system and application patching through CI/CD pipelines while troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and application connectivity.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active DoW Secret security clearance required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance with SCI indoctrination.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related STEM discipline.
• Active DoW 8140 IAT Level II or higher certification, or the ability to obtain it within 30 calendar days of hire.
• 5+ years of IT experience, including at least 2 years deploying solutions in AWS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS compute, storage, networking, containers, serverless services, IAM, Terraform or CloudFormation, Linux/Windows systems, scripting, and cloud security controls.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoW organizations, AWS GovCloud, or Oracle Linux 8.
• AWS certification and experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud networking, encryption, Active Directory/AD FS, and security hardening.
• Understanding of AI/ML operations and development-to-field lifecycles.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
