Senior Database Engineer (Microsoft SQL Server)

Location: Hybrid in Puerto Rico, United States, with 3 days in the office; rotational on-call support and some weekends required.

What you will do

• Install, administer, patch, standardize, and automate database environments.
• Provide technical expertise for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, and supported database platforms.
• Secure and harden databases, remediate vulnerabilities, and support PCI DSS and SOX compliance.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and improve the reliability, performance, and efficiency of database services.
• Support database solution design and execution for major technology initiatives, including Azure migrations.
• Provide rotational on-call support and collaborate with customers, application teams, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of database administration or engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database.
• Knowledge of database security, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability.
• Experience developing database standards, operational procedures, and engineering best practices.
• Experience supporting PCI DSS and SOX compliance requirements in database environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience operating Oracle Exadata environments within OCI.
• Experience with IBM Guardium for database security and monitoring.
• Experience supporting mission-critical banking platforms in a large enterprise environment.
