Senior AWS Cloud Database Administrator - Remote within the US

Location: Remote within the United States; some travel is expected, and final candidates may be required to attend at least one in-person interview.

What you will do

• Lead the migration of hundreds of services to AWS managed database services, primarily Amazon RDS for SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Plan, execute, sequence, and validate homogeneous and heterogeneous migration waves using AWS DMS and SCT.
• Architect highly available multi-AZ database environments with RDS Proxy, automated failover, and AWS Backup.
• Define Terraform infrastructure-as-code standards and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis while owning database performance, scalability, and observability.
• Strengthen database security and governance and mentor the DBA team.

Requirements

• 10–12 years of database administration experience, including 3–5 years operating AWS managed database services in production.
• Hands-on enterprise-scale experience with RDS for SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Real-world experience with AWS DMS and SCT migrations.
• Hands-on Terraform experience for provisioning AWS database infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of AWS security, networking, and observability tooling.
• Strong architectural judgment and the ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Database Specialty certification.
• Aurora Serverless v2 or event-driven data architecture experience.
• Database cost optimization experience.
• Experience leading teams through multi-year cloud migrations.
