Sr. Specialist - Project Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 102,000–152,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide project leadership and technical guidance for internally and externally funded product-development projects.
• Coordinate design stage-gate packages, design reviews, business meetings, and presentations to cross-functional leadership.
• Lead cross-functional teams through the New Product Introduction process, project scrums, material-shortage meetings, and build meetings.
• Develop risk registers and mitigation plans while managing project forecasts, budgets, schedules, and customer deliverables.
• Use JIRA and other project tools for Earned Value Management reporting and maintain alignment with integrated master schedules.
• Coordinate engineering changes, lead the technical pillar of Enterprise Change Assessment, and provide engineering input for bids and proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience; 10 years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
• Strong project-management, planning, organization, communication, and stakeholder-management skills in a highly technical environment.
• Experience presenting technical project content to senior leadership.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, Atlassian Confluence, and JIRA.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical, electrical, optical, video, feedback-control, and related systems.
• Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program and able to obtain and maintain a positive security assessment; some positions may require Canadian government Reliability or Level 2 Secret clearance.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of root-cause analysis and reliability techniques such as 5 Why, Cause Map, 8D, or FMEA.
• Experience with optical assemblies, cameras, laser devices, AS9100, or the aerospace industry.
• PMP certification or P.Eng. license.
