Senior Conversation Designer - AI Conversation Design

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $155,500–$210,500 annually in Mountain View; the role may also include cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, train, and evaluate conversational AI agents for customer-facing QuickBooks experiences.
• Identify opportunities to improve chatbot and voice-assistant experiences while supporting business goals.
• Develop conversation principles, design strategies, playbooks, and stakeholder alignment with engineering and data science.
• Build AI skills and tools for generating golden datasets and supporting AI evaluations.
• Perform offline and online answer evaluations at scale using LLM-as-a-judge models and human-in-the-loop methods.
• Partner with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and UX designers while driving multiple projects to deadlines and quality standards.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of design experience, including 4 years in conversation design and 1 year working on AI agentic platforms.
• Experience building simple AI tools with Claude Code or similar technologies to create golden datasets and analyze user-response trends.
• Knowledge of language modeling and machine learning frameworks, including NLUs, RAG, and Claude Code.
• Working knowledge of HTML, Python, XML, and regex for creating dynamic dialog flows using Boolean logic and decision frameworks.
• Experience with user research, usability testing, experiment design, data analysis, stakeholder management, and team mentoring.
• Undergraduate degree required; relevant study in interaction design, HCI, psychology, computer science, or prompt engineering is preferred.
